Pumpkin Bumkin

October 21, 2010

This was a first time for Miette and I at the Chesterfield Berry Farm’s Pumpkin Festival this past weekend. Mom’s got in free and Miette was young enough to get in free as well! So we only paid $11.95 to get in. It was so much fun and they had a lot there to look at and do for the price.

When we first go in we of course went straight to the wine tasting to see what that was all about. It was 1 buck to try a sip of like 12 wines from Peaks of Otter Winery. So Good it was a warm day and most of the wines were light and fruity. I should have wrote down the ones I liked but my fav was a peach wine! Delicious!  Then after Ian and I got our drank on we checked out the toddler play area which wasn’t too eventful but did have a lot of little trices for the kiddies to play on. Miette’s feet couldn’t quite reach :)

They had a lot of other cool things such as a huge corn maze, pony rides, a haunted house and the like but Miette was a tad to young to enjoy those. But they had a little farm zoo thing going on that all of us loved.

You would think I was born in the city rather than the country with the way I gushed over all the farm animals. But hey, yeah I have no excuse they were so darn cute.  After checking out everything else the place had to offer we got in line for the hay ride over to the pumpkins. It was a beautiful bumpy ride

The little one and Daddy picked out the perfect orange pumpkin while I wanted a sloppy green one just cuz I fell in love with it at first sight. But both in total only cost us $5.59 for both pumpkins. I say we made out quite fine that day!

This weekend we are visiting my parents and sibs in Lancaster Va. I may not have been a fan of it growing up but its nice and tranquil now that I know lol Today we visited my mom at work at her preschool (well, its not her’s) and ate lunch and played with the other chitlins on the playground. I’m thinking Miette is her mothers daughter because she was chillin with the dudes playing trucks and ball.

Before meeting up at the preschool I stopped by my favorite place to eat in Lancaster to pick up lunch for everyone. Dixie Deli!! They literally have the best subs around….I have never strayed from my hot sub!! Love it so much so spicy and delicious. Perfection! Since the wee little bean wouldn’t eat anything spicy she got a chicken salad sandmich. Which she gobbled up

I have a special little somthin somethin planned for tomorrow!

We Could Find New Worlds

October 6, 2010

This morning I had the worst nightmare I’ve ever had in my life. I woke up in a panic and just was too mortified to go back to sleep so instead of just dwelling on it I decided to get up and get ready for a short 1 miler to shake off that eerie feeling. I don’t know what was up with me this morning but the run was harder than it should have been. Maybe its from just not feeling my best or what but it still made me feel better about the day.

Here’s what I look like unshowered, sweaty, and grungy after a mile run lol. I had rockin tunes on during the run which always help me stay pumped and the weather was gorgeous and welcoming. But after that first mile I decided not to push another one out.

But hey I figured might as well take it easy this morning so I have the energy to do 3 miles at the Skirt Run tonight. Whoooo!!!!! I keep seeing yogurt parfaits for some reason so I was craving one after that run

Skirt Run

October 6, 2010

I am going to try to run the October Skirt Run tomorrow night. If you have never heard of the Skirt you need to check out their website. Its a free newspaper/magazine type deal that’s all about female empowerment. Personally I love all the neat and cool illustrations and quotes they share along with the inspiration stories about local women and men.

Can’t wait to don my running skirt I got at Target and represent!

If your in Richmond and you wanna join meet at the Legend Brewing at 6:30! You can run or walk

Nostalgic Part 1

October 5, 2010

I am feeling like my little girl is growing up to fast. She’s up and about walking and babbling her little baby words. So I decided what better way to celebrate her big girlness then to look back at some of my favorite photos over the past year and a half.

Better Than Never

October 4, 2010

A first time last night…making choco chip cookies from scratch..mmmmmm

Look at them beauties. So delicious! They were supposed to be nice and small and fluffy but they turned out then and crispy and o so good! I liked them even better with their own imperfections. I followed Jenna’s Perfect Chocolate Chip recipe pretty much to the T except I forgot to whisk then repeat several times….oops but these were seriously so good it didn’t matter. By the time I got up this morning those three batches of cookies were down to 4….hmmmm I wonder where they went, I only had 2.

This morning’s run was chilly. I was tempted to go back and grab a jacket but I knew once I started I would warm up in no time. The ground was wet I guess we had a rainstorm last night. Perfect running conditions

Running back up to the house I saw two figures in the doorway awaiting my triumphant return. Nice to see both my babys out and about.

Post run breakfast included strawberry yogurt with granola and coconut flakes.

Im really beginning to enjoy me some yogurt

Tonight I wanted to try this Scalloped Tomatoes with Croutons out but I did a couple slight variations and enjoyed a cookie while cooking.

Didn’t quite turn out the way I wanted so I wont post what I did but definitely up for further experimentations lol.

Taking It Easy

October 2, 2010

Today was playing catch up. On everything from laundry, vacuuming, wipe downs and put aways. Now our house is immaculate….minus Daddy’s “Man Room” which I refuse to clean. So with cleaning and everything dinner snuck up on me and I didn’t have a plan so out came a trusty tasty frozen pizza to the rescue. The ingredients were stellar and wasn’t one of those super crazy unhealthy ones so it was game on.

Miette’s finger swiping in for the kill. She has yet to grasp that it’s easier to eat applesauce with a spoon rather than taking 20 minutes to put it on her finger bit by bit. I on the other hand do not use a spoon for my sauce of apple either, instead I like to dip my pizza in it…weird for some but delicious for yours truly.

After an hour long dinner we sat on the porch swing eating vanilla pudding and bananas as a dessert. I love those memories. There’s nothing better than having your daughter sit in your lap and swinging in the crisp fall weather whispering to each other over a bowl of goodness.

Then for bedtime she donned her new swag from Daddy.

At first she wasn’t really into me taking her picture.

its hard trying to take a picture of a walking baby lol.
